A kidney biopsy is a diagnostic procedure used to examine kidney tissue under a microscope. It helps in diagnosing kidney diseases such as glomerulonephritis, lupus nephritis, diabetic nephropathy, and kidney transplant rejection. A small sample of kidney tissue is removed using a thin needle, often guided by ultrasound or CT imaging. The results help doctors determine the best course of treatment. While generally safe, complications such as minor bleeding can occur.
