Electrophysiology (EP) and Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) are specialized fields in cardiology that focus on diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders and vascular diseases using minimally invasive procedures. Electrophysiology (EP) deals with the electrical system of the heart and is primarily used to diagnose and treat arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), and ventricular tachycardia.
