Endocrinology is a specialized field focused on diagnosing and treating hormonal and metabolic disorders in infants, children, and adolescents. Endocrinologists manage conditions related to the endocrine glands, which regulate growth, metabolism, puberty, and overall development. Common conditions treated include growth disorders (short stature, gigantism), diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2), thyroid disorders (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism), early or delayed puberty, adrenal gland disorders, pituitary gland abnormalities, and metabolic bone diseases like rickets. Pediatric endocrinologists also care for children with obesity-related hormonal imbalances, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and congenital hormonal deficiencies.
