Rotablation is a specialized technique used to treat heavily calcified coronary artery blockages that cannot be easily opened with conventional angioplasty. A tiny rotating burr coated with diamond particles is inserted into the artery to grind down plaque buildup into microscopic particles, which are safely absorbed by the bloodstream.
