Mandibulectomy is the removal of part or all of the lower jaw (mandible) to treat oral cavity cancers, including tongue, gum, and floor-of-mouth cancers. The procedure may involve bone graft reconstruction using a patient’s fibula or metal plates to restore jaw function. Swallowing, chewing, and speech therapy are essential post-surgery.
