Principal GI Surgery refers to the major surgical procedures performed to treat complex diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile ducts. These surgeries are often necessary for conditions such as gastrointestinal cancers, severe inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hernias, and organ perforations.
